22/08/2018Storyhouse Chester – ‘A Better Song to Sing’: Emerging Northern Voices.

Join us after a screening of Educating Rita (1983), for a discussion about Northern Identity with emerging Northern voices.

Taking part in the discussion will be novelist James Rice (author of Alice and the Fly), poet Ian Walker (winner of the 2016 Borough Prize Live Canon International Poetry Competition), and Danielle Jawando (Former Coronation Street storyline writer and author of And the Stars Were Burning Brightly). We’ll be talking the North and how it factors into their work, the idea of northern identity (as a writer and a person), and the importance of stories that exist outside of the capital.

The panel will be moderated by Jon Paul Roberts.
